2025 Kawasaki Versys 650: Adventure Tourer Updated for BS6 P2 Norms at ₹7.93 Lakh

2025 Kawasaki Versys 650 launched in India at ₹7.93 lakh. Gets BS6 P2-compliant engine, new Graphenesteel Gray colour, and remains adventure-ready.

Kawasaki India has refreshed its adventure tourer stalwart, the Versys 650, to meet India's new BS6 P2 (OBD2B) emissions. Now at ₹7.93 lakh (ex-showroom), the 2025 Versys 650 goes on sale with subtle cosmetic changes and the same reliable mechanical fundamentals — all while becoming slightly greener under the bonnet.

With this release, Kawasaki finishes its MY25 mid-size machine refresh, after previous launches of the Ninja 500, Ninja 650, and Eliminator 500. Let's have a closer look at what's new — and what's not.

New Colour, Familiar Shape

The most evident update on the 2025 Versys 650 is its new Metallic Matte Graphenesteel Gray colouring. It replaces the double-tone choices available on the previous MY24 model. Although still predominantly black and gray, Kawasaki has introduced pale green accents to preserve its recognisable identity.

Styling-wise, there are no significant changes. The semi-fairing with dual LED headlights, large adjustable windscreen, and split seats continue unchanged. This upright tourer remains purpose-built for long-distance use, and its slim underbelly exhaust means a compact profile.

Powertrain Now BS6 P2-Compliant

Beneath the bodywork, the engine continues to accommodate the familiar 649cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled configuration making:

  • 66 bhp peak power
  • 61 Nm torque
  • 6-speed gearbox with slip and assist clutch

Though the fundamental hardware is the same, the engine now adheres to the more stringent BS6 P2 emission standards, which renders it cleaner and ready for the future. This is a part of the OBD2B mandate coming into force from April 1, 2025.

Hardware & Ride Dynamics

Part of the reason why the Versys 650 remains a touring favorite is its better suspension setup, particularly when put side by side with the Ninja 650. Some standout hardware includes:

  • 41mm USD front forks – fully adjustable rebound and compression
  • Pre-load adjustable rear mono-shock
  • Dual 300mm front discs and a single rear disc
  • 17-inch alloy wheels at both ends
  • This makes the Versys 650 much more able when the tarmac becomes twisty or cracked up, particularly on longer touring trips.

Pricing & Availability

The 2025 Versys 650 is now priced at ₹7.93 lakh (ex-showroom), an increase of ₹16,000 from the MY24 variant. Surprisingly, there could still be leftover MY24 models with some dealers, which came with discounts ranging up to ₹20,000 — a cost-saving option if you are willing to forego the emission upgrade.

Final Thoughts

Although the 2025 Kawasaki Versys 650 isn't radically changed, its timely refresh keeps the model current — and road legal — under India's stricter emission regulations. With its tried-and-tested chassis, comfortable ergonomics, and now cleaner engine, it's still one of the best-balanced mid-capacity adventure tourers in India.
