While petrol, diesel, and electric cars are common, there's a new player in the Indian automotive market: a solar car! Vayve Commercial Mobility has developed a solar car designed specifically for Indian roads. This solar car can charge using sunlight and also functions as an electric car that can be charged through conventional means.

Vayve CT5 Solar Car Debut

This innovative Vayve CT5 Solar Car was first introduced at the Auto Expo 2023. Designed for taxi services, this car is not just limited to solar energy but also operates as an electric vehicle, offering a dual-power option for users.

Vayve CT5 Range and Performance

According to the company, this car can travel up to 330 kilometers on a full charge. It also comes with 500 liters of boot space and supports fast charging. The car is equipped with a battery that has a 3-year or 1.5 lakh kilometer warranty, and its top speed is 70 km/h. For passenger safety, it features front disc brakes, and seat belts are provided for all five passengers.

Impressively, this solar car can accelerate from 0 to 40 km/h in just 6 seconds. It is available in two variants: 3.3kW and 30kW. The 30kW variant charges faster. The car's roof is fitted with solar panels, which allow it to run up to 4,000 kilometers for free every year, purely on solar energy.

While the official price of the Vayve CT5 Solar Car has yet to be revealed, reports suggest that it may be priced at around ₹10 lakh (ex-showroom). As for the design, this unique vehicle comes with three wheels instead of four, setting it apart from traditional cars.
