Kia Carens EV: India’s First 7-Seater Electric MPV with 500 KM Range – Ready for Launch!
The demand for electric cars in India is steadily rising, and manufacturers are introducing new models and exciting offers to attract buyers. The Indian government is also emphasizing the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs), and as a result, their prices are gradually coming down to match those of petrol cars.
MG Motors has already introduced cars without battery packs and is offering a 60% buyback option. Now, Kia India is gearing up to launch more electric vehicles in the country. According to reports, the company is preparing to release an electric version of its popular 7-seater car, the Kia Carens.
Following the success of hatchbacks and SUVs, MPVs are now set to enter the electric vehicle segment. Targeting family buyers, Kia is expected to launch the electric variant of the Carens either by the end of this year or early next year. Reports suggest that this new model may also be showcased at the Auto Expo next year. It is expected to be one of the most affordable EV MPVs in its segment.
Redesigned Kia Carens EV
The new Kia Carens EV has already been spotted during testing, and its design features several upgrades compared to the petrol version. The electric variant will sport a new grille, bonnet, bumper, and wheels. Additionally, the EV will have distinct branding, with the electric vehicle (EV) logo visible in various parts of the car.
Up to 500 Kilometers of Range!
Kia Carens EV is expected to come with a large battery option. Although specific battery details have not yet been revealed, it is anticipated that the car could offer a driving range of up to 500 kilometers on a single charge. The EV is also expected to support DC fast charging, making it convenient for long-distance travel.
Safety Assured
Kia has always prioritized safety in its vehicles, and the new Carens EV will be no exception. The car is expected to come equipped with advanced safety features, including Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System), anti-lock braking system (ABS) with EBD, six airbags, brake assist, electronic power steering (EPS), and three-point seat belts.
Moreover, the Carens EV's body is likely to be made from high-strength steel to ensure maximum safety for passengers in the event of a collision. Kia is expected to launch this new electric MPV in India at an estimated price of around ₹20 lakh.
