Maruti Brezza to Launch Affordable Variant with New Engine and Better Mileage

Maruti Suzuki is set to launch a more affordable version of the Brezza with a new 1.2L petrol engine. The updated model promises better mileage (over 20 kmpl) and reduced price, potentially starting at ₹7.49 lakh. This could disrupt the market for rivals like Hyundai Venue and Tata Nexon.

Maruti Suzuki is getting ready to introduce an affordable version of its popular Brezza in India. The new version will be equipped with a newly introduced 1.2L 3-cylinder petrol engine that offers more power and improved mileage as compared to the existing 1.5L engine.

The Maruti Brezza, one of the best-selling cars in its segment, has been one of the costlier options available in the market. This cheaper model is expected to boost sales even further. Following the launch of the new generation Swift and Dzire, which comes with a more fuel-efficient 1.2L 3-cylinder Z-series engine, Maruti is also in the process of upgrading a couple of its models, where Brezza is the next model in line.

What's New in the Maruti Brezza?

The current Maruti Brezza is powered by a 1.5L petrol engine, priced between ₹8.34 lakh and ₹13.98 lakh. However, the new model will come with a smaller, more fuel-efficient 1.2L 3-cylinder Z-series petrol engine. The smaller engine will not only be more powerful but also offer better fuel efficiency, providing savings on fuel costs for customers.

Additionally, since smaller engines attract lower taxes, the price of the Brezza is expected to drop significantly, making it more affordable for buyers.

Expected Price and Mileage

The new Brezza with the 1.2L engine is expected to be priced from around ₹7.49 lakh, which is a huge reduction from the current model. This new engine is also likely to deliver more than 20 kmpl, making it an even more economical option for the customer.

This may pit the new Brezza head to head against other popular variants such as Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV300, and Tata Nexon. Maruti also plans a refreshed Fronx, Baleno, and WagonR in the near future to gain some more market space.

Petrol Turbocharged Engine for Enhanced Performance

Besides the new 1.2L engine, Maruti Suzuki is also developing a turbocharged petrol engine coupled with hybrid technology. A new turbo unit is set to replace the older 1.5L K15C and 1.0L Boosterjet engines. It is estimated that this new turbo engine will offer some 100-120 bhp of power and better mileage compared to the existing 1.5L engine.

According to reports, the revised Brezza with the new engine is expected to be available in the market starting by the end of next year, offering a more powerful and efficient option for buyers.
