Ratan Tata's Legacy

Ratan Tata breathed his last at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. As the head of the Tata Group, he guided several companies to great heights, including Tata Motors, which is now recognized as one of India’s major automobile manufacturers. Under his leadership, Tata Motors launched the first indigenous car in India, known for its strong safety reputation.

The First Indian Car: Tata Indica

Under Ratan Tata’s leadership, Tata Motors unveiled the Tata Indica, India’s first indigenous car, in 1998. This compact hatchback was entirely designed and developed in India, making it a landmark achievement in the Indian automotive sector.

In 2023, Tata Indica celebrated its 25th anniversary, and Ratan Tata took to social media to commemorate the occasion, emphasizing the significance of the car, which held a special place in his heart.

Features of the Tata Indica

The Tata Indica was designed to meet the demands of the Indian market, addressing the need for a compact car with excellent mileage.
