Starting January 1, 2025, WhatsApp will discontinue support for Android devices running KitKat, an operating system nearly a decade old. Users with older phones, including models like Samsung Galaxy S3 and Motorola Moto G, will need to upgrade to continue accessing the app. This change is part of WhatsApp's efforts to enhance security, compatibility, and performance, which older software can no longer support effectively.

iPhone users running iOS 15.1 or older versions will also face the end of WhatsApp support. However, unlike Android users, iPhone owners, such as those using the iPhone 5s or iPhone 6, will have until May 5, 2025, to upgrade their devices.
