Xiaomi has launched its new affordable smartphone, the Redmi A5, in India on April 15, 2025. Tailored to the entry-level segment, this 4G smartphone is loaded with utilitarian features such as an IP52 splash-resistant capability, a bright 6.88-inch HD+ screen with a buttery 120Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 600 nits for outdoor legibility. A side-mounted fingerprint reader lends a touch of convenience to the minimalist design.

Under the hood, the Redmi A5 packs a Unisoc T7250 octa-core processor, accompanied by up to 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage (expandable to 2TB through microSD). The phone comes with Android 15 pre-installed, with Xiaomi assuring two years of software updates and four years of security patches—a big promise in the budget category.

Photography enthusiasts receive a 32MP dual-camera rear setup and an 8MP front camera for selfies. Lights will stay on due to a huge 5,200mAh battery supported by a 15W charger bundled inside the box.
