'Band, Baaja, Baraat' Gang Busted: Delhi Police Arrests 4 Thieves Contracted for Wedding Heists

The 'Band, Baaja, Baraat' gang, which included women and children, infiltrated weddings under disguise and stole purses and bags. Operating on a contractual basis, they charged up to ₹50,000 for a few days' work. Delhi Police identified the gang using CCTV footage and arrested four members, with efforts ongoing to nab others.

 

'Band, Baaja, Baraat' Gang Busted: Delhi Police's crime branch has busted the notorious 'Band, Baaja, Baraat' gang that is famous for wedding thefts across the NCR region. This gang comprised of people from Rajgarh district of Madhya Pradesh and included women and children. They would disguise themselves as waiters or other staff and move into weddings to mix with guests. As many as four members have been arrested.

They operated in a very planned manner, breaking open banquet halls and making off with purses and bags during weddings. They used vehicles to return these loot goods to their villages in Madhya Pradesh. The mastermind, Raju, was caught carrying five mobile phones and 13 SIM cards, and the list of his interrogation finally revealed thefts around Alipur, Hisar, and Maidan Garhi.

The gang functioned on a contractual basis, charging up to ₹50,000 for a two-to-three-day operation. They remained elusive, often skipping court appearances after securing bail. Their identification and subsequent arrest were made possible through extensive analysis of CCTV footage. Delhi Police continues to search for other gang members, including women who played critical roles in their operations.
