A Bengaluru tech professional has been located in Noida after disappearing under mysterious circumstances earlier this month. The man, who resides in North Bengaluru, had been missing since August 4, sparking a public outcry from his wife who accused the local police of insufficient efforts in locating him.

The case took a dramatic turn when the techie was spotted near a mall in Noida on Thursday evening. After watching a movie, he was recognized and apprehended by the police. Despite initial resistance, he was persuaded to return to Bengaluru early Friday morning.

The techie’s disappearance had been reported by his wife, who took to social media to express frustration over the perceived lack of action from the authorities. She initially suspected foul play, fearing that her husband had been kidnapped when he failed to return from a routine visit to an ATM.

The investigation faced several challenges, primarily due to the techie’s decision to turn off his mobile phone. Efforts by the police to track him through CCTV footage from bus stands, railway stations, and airports yielded no results. However, a breakthrough came when it was discovered that he had purchased a new SIM card in Noida, which he used in his old phone. This led investigators to his location.

When police officers confronted the techie outside the mall, he initially resisted their attempts to return him to Bengaluru. According to the Times of India, he expressed his unwillingness to come back, stating, "You put me in prison, I will live there…but I won’t return." It took several hours of negotiation before he agreed to fly back, under the condition that the missing person report would be closed upon his return.

Upon arrival at Kempegowda International Airport, the techie gave a statement to the police. He described a troubling situation at home, alleging that his wife had subjected him to emotional and psychological abuse. "I’m her second husband. When I met her around three years ago, she was a divorcee with a daughter. We have an eight-month-old daughter together," he said. He accused his wife of restricting his freedom, being overly controlling, and reacting harshly over trivial matters.

In an attempt to avoid being recognized while on the run, he had altered his appearance by shaving his head and changing his look. His journey had taken him from Tirupati to Bhubaneswar by bus, then to Delhi, and finally to Noida.

The case highlights ongoing issues related to domestic abuse and the lengths individuals might go to escape difficult situations. As the techie returns home, the investigation into the claims of harassment and his disappearance continues to unfold.
