Bengaluru, September 2 – In a significant step towards digitization, Indian Railways has introduced a QR code-based ticketing system at 108 railway stations across Bengaluru. This new system will allow passengers to purchase tickets using online payment methods, eliminating the need for cash transactions and long queues at ticket counters.

The QR code ticketing system has been implemented at major stations like KSR Bengaluru, Yeshwanthpur, SMVT, and Cantonment, among others. Passengers can now simply scan the QR code at 140 Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) counters spread across these stations to purchase their tickets.

South Western Railway officials, including Trinetra, have confirmed that the new system is designed to make ticket purchasing faster and more convenient. With the integration of QR code scanners at ticket counters, passengers no longer need to worry about carrying exact change or waiting in long lines.

The response from passengers has been overwhelmingly positive. Many have expressed relief, noting that they have missed trains in the past due to the lack of small change. The QR code system, they say, is a welcome move towards a more digital and efficient travel experience.

Every day, around 4,000 passengers are already using the online payment option to purchase their train tickets in Bengaluru, highlighting the growing acceptance of digital payments among commuters.

This initiative is part of the broader Digital India campaign, which aims to make services more accessible and user-friendly through digital solutions.Bengaluru, September 2 – In a significant step towards digitization, Indian Railways has introduced a QR code-based ticketing system at 108 railway stations across Bengaluru.
