BENGALURU, India (AP) — The Karnataka government has rescheduled the written examination for 402 Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) positions following demands from candidates and BJP leaders. Originally set for September 22, the exam will now take place on September 28, according to Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara.

The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) had previously announced that the PSI recruitment exam would be held on September 22. However, due to overlapping recruitment tests on the same day for various departments and requests from candidates, as well as pressure from BJP officials, the government decided to postpone the exam.

Dr. Parameshwara confirmed the new date, stating, “We have decided to move the PSI recruitment exam to September 28. The original date conflicted with other major recruitment exams, including UPSC preliminaries, which many candidates from our state are taking. To accommodate everyone, we have rescheduled the test.”

The decision to postpone was influenced by a request from candidates and BJP leaders, who highlighted the clash with other important examinations and the potential inconvenience for students. The Home Minister also mentioned that there were no available slots for the exam until December, but discussions with senior officials and adjustments to the schedule led to the new date being set for September 28.

Dr. Parameshwara assured that the rescheduling would not affect the recruitment process, emphasizing that the delay was necessary to ensure all candidates could participate without conflict.
