Mangaluru Schoolgirl Lifts Auto to Rescue Mother in Viral Video, Netizens Demand Bravery Award

In a remarkable display of courage, a schoolgirl from Mangaluru’s Kinnigoli has become a local hero after she lifted an auto rickshaw to save her mother’s life following a freak accident. The incident, captured on CCTV, has since gone viral, showing the girl’s quick thinking and bravery in a moment of crisis.

The accident occurred when the woman, who was crossing the road to pick up her daughter from tuition classes, was struck by an auto rickshaw. The impact knocked the woman to the ground, and the vehicle overturned, partially crushing her. Before the stunned bystanders could react, the young girl rushed to the scene and, in an extraordinary moment of strength and determination, lifted the auto rickshaw off her mother.

The CCTV footage shows the three-wheeler not only hitting the woman but also crashing into a man at a nearby petrol pump before flipping over. As the girl frantically worked to free her mother, she also managed to help another passenger trapped in the auto rickshaw.

 

“That girl must be given some award. Instead of just watching or filming, she immediately jumped into action,” wrote one user on social media. Others suggested that she should receive a National Bravery Award, calling her a "real-life Sherni" (lioness) for her courageous act.

The girl’s actions have sparked admiration across the country, with many pointing to her as an example of the bravery and resilience needed in moments of adversity.
