Actress Shakeela Alleges Mohanlal, Mammootty, and Mukesh Part of a Power Group in Malayalam Film Industry
Chennai, August 30 – In a startling revelation, actress Shakeela has claimed that prominent Malayalam actors Mohanlal, Mammootty, and Mukesh are part of a powerful group within the Malayalam film industry. Shakeela, who has acted in numerous Malayalam films and gained popularity in Tamil cinema as well, shared these allegations following the release of the Hema Committee report, which highlighted instances of sexual misconduct in the industry.
Shakeela stated that the Malayalam film industry is dominated by a "power group," involving well-known figures like Mohanlal, Mammootty, and Mukesh. She alleged that this group exerts significant control over the industry, often pushing actresses into compromising situations and perpetuating a toxic environment. According to Shakeela, she had personally intervened in several instances to protect fellow actresses from harassment.
In her account, Shakeela recounted an incident involving actress Roopashree during a film shoot. She described how she had to chase away an individual who attempted to enter Roopashree's room late at night. This incident, she said, is just one example of the broader issues plaguing the industry.
Shakeela's accusations come in the wake of the Hema Committee's findings, which reported that the Malayalam film industry is under the influence of a 15-member mafia. The report highlighted that actresses are often coerced into wearing revealing clothes and performing uncomfortable scenes, with some actors demanding multiple retakes of intimate scenes to the point of harassment.
The Hema Committee also addressed the lack of basic amenities for actresses, such as proper restrooms and equal pay. The report recommended that the industry take immediate steps to provide fair wages and essential facilities to ensure the safety and dignity of all workers.
The allegations against such high-profile actors have caused a stir, especially considering that Mohanlal previously served as the president of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA). His leadership, along with the resignations of 17 members following sexual misconduct allegations, has already put the organization under scrutiny.
As more actresses come forward with their experiences, the Malayalam film industry faces mounting pressure to address these serious concerns and implement reforms to protect its members from abuse and exploitation.
