Chennai News: Man stabs nine-day-old daughter to death with scissors, arrested

Chennai news: A 38-year-old man, identified as Rajkumar, was arrested by the Vyasarpadi police on Wednesday for allegedly stabbing his nine-day-old daughter to death with a pair of scissors.
The police reported that Rajkumar, a daily wage laborer, was distressed that his third child, born on June 29, was a girl. He already has two daughters, aged four and two-and-a-half.
On July 7, Rajkumar informed his wife that their newborn had developed a medical complication and claimed her intestine had burst. The child was taken to a government hospital, where she died on July 9.
Following the child's death, a postmortem was conducted, and the report indicated that the injury was caused by a sharp object.
Alerted by the postmortem findings, the police and district child welfare officials launched an inquiry. During the investigation, Rajkumar reportedly confessed to stabbing his daughter.
The police further revealed that after receiving the child's body, Rajkumar forced his wife to cremate her. He was subsequently arrested and placed under judicial remand on Wednesday.
