Chhath Puja 2024: Public Holiday in Delhi on 7th November, Announces CM Atishi
In reply to a letter to the Lieutenant Governor, the Delhi government announced November 7, 2024 as a public holiday for Chhath Puja. Chief Minister Atishi earlier wrote to Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena with a request to change the day from a restricted holiday to a full public holiday, recognizing the importance of Chhath for the Purvanchali community of Delhi. The public holiday declaration will enable its residents to celebrate the festival with full zest.

As part of the preparations for Chhath festivities, CM Atishi met with officials from the Delhi Jal Board and the Revenue Department. She reviewed all necessary arrangements, directed officials to complete preparations on time, and emphasized working systematically to avoid any last-minute issues.

Coordination with the different departments to ensure the necessary facilities for the festival, so it is smooth, is what the Delhi government is concentrating on, to celebrate Chhath Puja without any obstruction. As a result, it once again brings to light the commitment that this administration has towards a great tradition of Purvanchali culture and encourages it in the entire system so that all the members can be included in Delhi.
