Delhi Schools Receive Fresh Bomb Threats: Police Probe the Latest Hoax Cases

Delhi schools were kept under high alert this morning following bomb threats at many schools. The Indian Public School at South Delhi and a school in Saraswati Vihar, North West Delhi, were the newest to be targeted. Such threats had earlier this month followed numerous schools in the capital.

Delhi Police confirmed that upon receiving the bomb threats, authorities immediately deployed fire brigades, bomb squads, and other emergency services. School premises were evacuated immediately to ensure the safety of students and staff. Fortunately, no explosives or hazardous materials were found during the inspections.

The threats are being taken seriously, with the police and bomb disposal squads working diligently to investigate the source and credibility of the messages. Delhi Police said that the bomb threat emails calling for a ransom of $30,000 were first received on December 8, which immediately alarmed school staff and parents. On December 14, a breakthrough was made after a private school student in Paschim Vihar was identified as one of those behind the threats. He had sent it to his school also. With this IP, they were able to track the student down. When they questioned him, he finally confessed that it was all a hoax, and so after being counselled, the authorities let him go with just a warning.

However, this recent series of bomb threats in Delhi schools continues to cause anxiety. On December 13, 30 schools across Delhi received similar hoax bomb threat emails. Investigations revealed that the emails had been generated from outside the country. South East Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Ravi Kumar Singh, confirmed that the Bomb Disposal Squad had conducted thorough checks in the affected schools and reassured parents that safety was being prioritized.

Delhi's schools were already on tenterhooks because of these incidents, and the authorities have been reinforcing safety measures. Delhi Police have said that the investigations going on now are to track down the originators of these bomb threat emails, but they are also securing school premises from such threats in the future.
