Delhi Government Launches Green War Room to Monitor Winter Action Plan Against Pollution

On Monday, Delhi's Environment Minister, Gopal Rai, inaugurated the Green War Room to effectively implement the Winter Action Plan against pollution. The eight-member team will monitor air quality and pollution control measures. According to the minister, Delhi has made significant progress in reducing pollution levels, with the number of highly polluted days decreasing from 243 in 2016 to 159 in 2023. This marks a 34.6% reduction in air pollution.

To raise awareness, the government will organize a Green Kalash Yatra on October 1st at Connaught Place, aimed at promoting the development of green areas in Delhi.

Green War Room and Monitoring

The Green War Room will be led by Dr. Nandita Moitra, a renowned scientist, along with environmental experts. The team will closely monitor primary pollutants, assess pollution control measures, and address complaints submitted via the Green Delhi app.

Success of Green Delhi App

So far, 88% of the 80,473 complaints received through the Green Delhi app have been resolved. The Delhi government urges citizens to download the app and report pollution-related issues. The Green War Room will coordinate with 33 departments to address these complaints and ensure effective action.

With the Green War Room in place, the Delhi government aims to further reduce pollution levels during the winter months.
