Delhi Opens Admissions for Nursery, KG and class 1

As per the order of DoE, 25% of seats in private unaided recognized schools need to be reserved for students from Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), Disadvantaged Groups (DG), and children with disabilities. A separate admission list would be issued. The minimum age has also been prescribed as three years for nursery, four years for KG, and five years for Class 1 as on March 31, 2025.

All school going children of other countries may be admitted in India subject to the circular requirements of upper age limits being less than four years for nursery, less than five years for the KG, and less than six years for Class 1. Schools may relax the age up to thirty days subject to the approval of the head of the school.

However, the DoE has also stipulated that all schools shall publish their admission criteria along with point systems on their respective websites by November 25. The school authorities shall also ensure that such criteria are well-defined, reasonable, and within the ambit of guidelines published by the department. In case of a tie among applicants, a draw would be held and recorded through video for transparency.
