Gurugram News: Large Plaster Fall in DLF New Town Heights Raises Safety Concerns

A significant safety incident occurred at DLF New Town Heights condominium in Sector 90, Gurgaon, when a large piece of plaster fell from the ceiling of a seventh-floor flat. The flat, located in Tower N of the complex, was unoccupied at the time, preventing any injuries.

Jugabrata Gogoi, the resident of the affected flat, was returning home from work when the incident happened. His wife, who was preparing for Janmashtami, was startled by a loud crash. Upon investigating, she found that a substantial section of plaster had detached from the bedroom ceiling.

Gogoi expressed his relief that neither his family members nor their pet dog, which often rests in the area where the plaster fell, were in the room at the time. He promptly notified the police; however, no action has been taken yet. DLF employees and maintenance staff arrived to inspect the damage and assess the situation.

 

A member of the DLF New Town Heights Residents' Welfare Association (RWA) confirmed that both the developer and RWA team inspected the site and have begun repair work. Maintenance within the complex is managed by the RWA, and repairs are currently underway.

The developer clarified that maintenance responsibilities were transferred to the RWA several years ago. District Town Planner (Enforcement) Manish Yadav stated that the Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) has not yet received a formal complaint regarding the incident. He added that if a complaint is filed, a notice will be issued to the builder, and a response will be sought.

Residents are now anxiously awaiting further developments and seeking assurances regarding the safety and quality of their residences.
