A 38-year-old engineer reportedly attempted suicide by jumping off the Atal Setu trans-harbour bridge in Mumbai on Wednesday afternoon, according to police sources. Authorities launched a search operation to locate him later in the evening.

Mumbai: A 38-year-old engineer reportedly attempted suicide by jumping off the Atal Setu trans-harbour bridge in Mumbai on Wednesday afternoon, according to police sources. Authorities launched a search operation to locate him later in the evening.
The individual, identified as K. Shriniwas from Dombivli, is believed to have been under severe financial stress. He reportedly parked his car at the Nhava Sheva end of the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, also known as Atal Setu, before leaping into the sea around 12:30 PM, an official said.
This incident follows a similar case on March 20, when a female doctor from Thane also committed suicide by jumping from Atal Setu.
