BrahMos Aerospace Becomes First PSU to Reserve Jobs for Agniveers - Read Here

BrahMos Aerospace, a joint venture between India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Russia’s NPO Mashinostroyenia, has reserved at least 15% of technical and general administration vacancies at its various work centers for Agniveers.
 

In a major development, BrahMos Aerospace has become the first public sector undertaking (PSU) to announce job reservations for Agniveers, marking a significant move to support young servicemen and women who complete their training under the Agnipath scheme. This decision, announced on September 27, is aimed at creating more employment opportunities for those who serve in the Indian defence forces.

BrahMos Aerospace, a joint venture between India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Russia’s NPO Mashinostroyenia, has reserved at least 15% of technical and general administration vacancies at its various work centers for Agniveers. Additionally, 50% of security and administrative roles will be reserved for Agniveers in outsourced tasks. The company also plans to recruit Agniveers for 15% of contractual vacancies, depending on their experience and qualifications.

In its announcement, BrahMos highlighted that Agniveers’ rigorous military training and discipline will be invaluable to India’s growing defence and industrial sectors. The company also encourages its industry partners to adopt a similar approach by recruiting at least 15% of Agniveers for relevant roles in their establishments.

Sanjeev Kumar Joshi, Deputy CEO of BrahMos Aerospace, expressed confidence that the Agnipath scheme provides young individuals with the skills needed for roles in the company. After four years of military service, Agniveers will have a deep sense of discipline, expertise, and nationalism, making them ideal candidates for roles in BrahMos Aerospace.

The Agnipath scheme recruits young individuals between the ages of 17.5 and 21 for four years in the Indian defence forces, with 25% of them being retained for an additional 15 years. The scheme has faced criticism from the opposition but remains a key part of the government's employment strategy for youth in the defence sector.

This announcement by BrahMos Aerospace sets a precedent for other companies to follow, promoting employment for Agniveers and recognizing their dedication and skills after military service.
