The refinery has been in operation since December 28, 1999, and is one of the world's largest, making a significant contribution to India's petroleum refining capacity.

The refinery accounts for 25% of India's total refining capacity, processing 1.4 million barrels of crude oil daily. It handles 247 grades of crude feedstock globally, which reflects its scale and efficiency.
