Mukesh Ambani, the Chairman of Reliance Industries and Asia’s richest man, has a unique way of doing business. Whenever he enters a market, a price war begins. Recently, he has made a big move in the carbonated soft drink market, giving tough competition to big players like Coca-Cola and Pepsi.

With the festive season starting in India, Reliance Consumer Products has launched its Campa range of carbonated drinks in several new markets. To directly compete with Coca-Cola and Pepsi, Ambani has slashed the prices of his Campa Cola drinks, making them available at half the price of his competitors. This pricing strategy has put pressure on Coca-Cola and Pepsi, forcing them to rethink their plans.

Mukesh Ambani’s Big Move

Ambani understands that India is a huge market. That’s why his main strategy is to expand quickly into new regions with lower prices. He used the same approach when he launched his telecom company, Jio. By offering free or low-cost plans, he forced other telecom companies to reduce their prices. Now, he is using the same plan with Campa Cola, aiming to make it the number one brand in the carbonated soft drink market.

How Will Coca-Cola and Pepsi Respond?

According to a report by Economic Times, Campa Cola’s low prices are directly affecting Coca-Cola and Pepsi. These two companies dominate the Indian carbonated soft drink market, but Campa Cola is giving them strong competition.

Reliance has aggressively expanded its distribution network for Campa Cola in over a dozen new markets. This has restarted the price war, putting Coca-Cola and Pepsi in a difficult position. They now face two choices: either reduce their prices and risk losing profits, or continue with their current prices and lose market share to Campa Cola.

Campa Cola, with its various flavors and lower prices, is becoming a big concern for Coca-Cola and Pepsi. While Coca-Cola and Pepsi offer similar tastes, Campa Cola’s range of flavors is expected to give them tough competition in the Indian market.
