In a significant boost for youth employment in India, the PM Internship Scheme has created over 90,000 internship opportunities for young people. Launched by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, this scheme aims to develop skills and provide real job experiences to individuals aged 21 to 24.

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs reported that as of now, 193 companies have signed up to offer internships through the scheme. Notable participants include major firms like Maruti Suzuki, Eicher Motors, and Reliance Industries. With opportunities spread across 24 sectors, including oil, gas, energy, hospitality, and banking, this initiative is set to make a real impact on the job market.

The internships will be available in approximately 20 sectors across 737 districts in India. The roles cover various areas such as operations, management, production, and marketing. This initiative is part of a broader plan by the government to skill one crore (10 million) young people, preparing them for the challenges of the real corporate world.

To qualify for these internships, candidates must have completed high school and possess a certificate from an Industrial Training Institute, a polytechnic diploma, or a graduate degree. Regular degree students and those currently employed cannot apply. Participants will also be covered under the PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima and PM Suraksha Yojana for additional security.

As this scheme opens doors to thousands of young individuals, it reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing employment opportunities and skill development in the country. The PM Internship Scheme not only promises valuable experience but also encourages youth to step confidently into their professional futures.
