Saurabh Gadgil, the chairman and managing director of PN Gadgil Jewellers (PNG Jewellers), has officially joined the ranks of India’s billionaires, with a net worth surpassing ₹9,000 crores (over $1.1 billion) following the company’s recent public listing. Born into a prominent family of jewelers in Pune, Maharashtra, Saurabh’s journey from a humble intern at the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to a billionaire is nothing short of inspiring.

Hailing from a lineage deeply rooted in the jewelry business, Saurabh is the son of businessman Vidyadhar Gadgil and the grandson of Dajikaka, the founder of the Pune branch of PN Gadgil Jewellers. His educational journey saw him earn a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from Brihan Maharashtra College of Commerce in 1998, followed by an MBA from the Symbiosis Institute of International Business. Saurabh also holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas in Austin.

While at RBI, Saurabh focused on studying the gold market, an experience that provided him valuable insights into his family’s business. His recent success comes just a month after PNG Jewellers went public, marking a significant milestone in the company’s history and in Saurabh's career.
