Diljit Dosanjh Slams Censorship: Bold Statements Rock the Dil-Luminati Tour

Diljit Dosanjh addresses censorship and media criticism during his Dil-Luminati Tour. From bold statements to fan support, here's everything that went down!

Punjabi singer-turned-actor Diljit Dosanjh is making waves with his highly anticipated Dil-Luminati India Tour 2024. Tickets for his concerts have been selling out rapidly, showcasing his massive fan following. However, Diljit has also found himself in the headlines for addressing issues of censorship in his songs during his recent concerts.

Telangana Government's Censorship Notice

The controversy began when the Telangana government issued a notice to Diljit ahead of his Hyderabad concert. The notice instructed him to refrain from performing songs that promote alcohol, violence, or drugs. Diljit complied with the guideline during the Hyderabad concert but spoke about the matter openly in his subsequent concert in Ahmedabad.

During the Ahmedabad show, Diljit emphasized the double standards surrounding censorship. "I have 2 to 4 songs that mention alcohol, but I’ve also made devotional songs, which no one talks about," he said. Advocating for change, Diljit suggested shutting down liquor shops if promoting alcohol is such a concern.

The issue resurfaced during his Lucknow concert, where Diljit addressed the ongoing controversy and shared his thoughts on a TV news anchor who had publicly challenged him.

Speaking to his audience, Diljit said, "For quite some time, there have been talks in the media about Diljit versus others. Let me make it clear—there is no Diljit versus anyone. I love everyone. I am not competing with anyone."

In response to the anchor’s challenge to create a hit song without mentioning alcohol, Diljit said, "For your information, Sir, my songs like Born to Shine, Goat, Lover, Kinni Kinni Vaari, and Bollywood Mein Naina get more streams on Spotify than Patiala Peg. Your challenge is already invalid."

Diljit Speaks on Censorship in Indian Cinema

Diljit also highlighted the broader issue of selective censorship in entertainment. "If you want to impose censorship on songs, it should be done in Indian cinema too," he argued. "In Indian movies, the bigger the gun, the bigger the hero. Which big actor hasn’t done scenes or songs with alcohol? The day you impose censorship there, I will stop as well."

Diljit defended artists, stating that they are often unfairly targeted. He reminded critics that his films have even received National Awards, showcasing the credibility of his work.

Diljit didn’t hold back as he addressed the fake news spread by the anchor. While he expressed no anger, he issued a challenge of his own: "It is your responsibility to spread the right news. So I challenge you to show the truth instead of targeting artists as soft targets."

His statements resonated with fans, who praised his boldness and honesty.

Diljit’s powerful words during his concerts have struck a chord with his audience. Fans have taken to social media to express their support for the artist, applauding his courage to speak out against double standards and misinformation.
