Actor Harshvardhan Rane has said no to the upcoming movie Sanam Teri Kasam 2 as tensions between India and Pakistan continue to rise. The actor posted a clear message on Instagram saying he won’t be a part of the film if the makers cast Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane, who was the lead in the first movie.
This decision by Harshvardhan comes at a time when strong emotions are running high across the country.
Why Harshvardhan Rane rejected Sanam Teri Kasam 2
Harshvardhan Rane shared a message on his Instagram Story on Saturday. He wrote, “While I am grateful for the experience, however as things stand, and after reading the direct comments made about my country, I have made a decision to respectfully decline to be a part of Sanam Teri Kasam part 2 if there is any possibility of the previous cast being repeated.”
This message came after rumors started about the return of Mawra Hocane to the sequel. She had played the female lead in the original romantic film released in 2016.
AICWA supports ban on Pakistani artists
The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has stood firm on its ban on Pakistani actors and filmmakers. After India’s Operation Sindoor, the group repeated that no Indian artist will work with Pakistani talent. They also stated that Indian actors should not share any global stage with Pakistani artists either.
Tensions between India and Pakistan grow
This entire situation comes soon after the Pahalgam terror attack that took place on April 22. As a response, India carried out retaliatory strikes on May 7, targeting nine terror hideouts in Pakistan. This military operation was named Sindoor.
These recent developments have deeply affected many people, including those in the Indian film industry. That’s why Harshvardhan Rane’s post has gained a lot of attention and support on social media.
