Mard actress Helena Luke, known as Mithun Chakraborty’s first wife, passes away in the USA. Bollywood mourns the loss of this talented 80s star.

Helena Luke, known for her role in the 1985 Amitabh Bachchan film Mard, passed away on Sunday in the USA. Actress and dancer Kalpana Iyer shared the sad news on social media, remembering her as a vibrant personality of Indian cinema. Helena Luke, who was also Mithun Chakraborty’s first wife, lived a unique life that captivated many, especially during her brief marriage to Mithun, which lasted only four months.

On Sunday morning, Helena shared what would be her final post on Facebook, expressing her feelings in a way that seemed unusually reflective. She wrote, “Feeling weird. Mixed emotions and no clue why, discombobulated.” Her words touched the hearts of her friends and followers, now serving as a poignant farewell to a life filled with highs and lows.

Helena Luke married Mithun Chakraborty in the late 1970s, but their marriage was brief, ending within four months. In an interview with Stardust magazine years later, Helena described the experience as a “hazy dream.” Reflecting on the past, she expressed regret, sharing, “I only wish it hadn’t happened. He was the one who brainwashed me into believing he was the man for me, and unfortunately, he succeeded.”

Despite some rumors of reconciliation at the time, Helena dismissed any possibility of returning to Mithun. She spoke of her disappointment, saying, “I’ll never go back to him even if he’s the richest guy around. It was a nightmare, and it’s over.” This relationship left a mark on her life, but Helena’s resilience and desire for independence were evident in her words.

Insights into Her Short-Lived Relationship

During the same interview, Helena recalled that Mithun had promised her father he would treat her like the “9th wonder of the world.” However, she shared that he left her feeling isolated and disillusioned. “I really believed him when he told me he loved me,” Helena had said, “But when I got to know him better, I realized he loved no one but himself.”

She further explained the struggles within their marriage, describing Mithun as possessive and insecure. He accused her of seeing her ex-boyfriend on the sly, which Helena denied. “It was only later that I realized he had a guilt complex. He himself was fooling around behind my back and thought I was doing the same.” These candid insights reveal the difficulties she faced in a relationship that ultimately left her emotionally scarred.

In her last social media post, Helena hinted that she had not been in the best of health. According to reports, she had not been receiving timely medical treatment, which may have contributed to her passing. Friends and family have expressed their sadness, remembering Helena as a warm and spirited person whose life had its share of challenges and triumphs.
