Rachel Gupta’s Goddess Ganga Look Stole the Show at Miss Grand International: Here’s How She Won

Rachel Gupta, a young and talented woman from Jalandhar, Punjab, has brought pride to India by winning the prestigious Miss Grand International 2024 crown in Thailand. After winning the title of Miss Super Talent of the World two years ago, Rachel always dreamed of representing her country on a global stage. Rachel’s portrayal of Goddess Ganga in the national costume round turned out to be a defining moment in her Miss Grand International journey. In her stunning blue and white costume, Rachel symbolized the purity and spiritual power of the sacred river Ganga. She described her costume with heartfelt words: "The Himalayas, one of the world’s greatest mountain ranges, are believed to touch the heavens and house the world’s most powerful gods. From these snowy peaks flows the holy river Ganga, blessing our land. My blue costume represents Ganga's purity, while the white reflects her spiritual strength. The shimmering design mirrors the glistening waters of the Ganga.”

This incredible costume was sketched by her close friend and designer, Tanya Kontala. However, the actual design was brought to life by Thai designer Akarach Phusanfeng, adding a unique international collaboration to her journey. Walking the ramp as Goddess Ganga, Rachel also shared an inspiring message: “Clean Ganga, Grand Ganga.”

Competing Among 70 Countries and Emerging Victorious

Miss Grand International 2024 featured contestants from over 70 countries, all competing for the prestigious title. Rachel, at just 20 years old, competed in various rounds, including the National Costume, Best Swimsuit, Best Evening Gown, Miss Popular Vote, and Country’s Power (which represents the strength and unity of each contestant’s homeland). With her outstanding performance in each segment, she emerged as the clear winner, proudly lifting the crown.
