Rimi Sen Sues Land Rover for ₹50 Crore Over Alleged Defects in Luxury SUV
The actress alleges that her Range Rover SUV, which she purchased in 2020, has numerous technical defects, leading to significant mental distress.
Bollywood actress Rimi Sen, known for her roles in films like Golmaal and Hungama, has reportedly filed a ₹50 crore lawsuit against luxury car manufacturer Land Rover. The actress alleges that her Range Rover SUV, which she purchased in 2020, has numerous technical defects, leading to significant mental distress.
According to reports, Rimi Sen bought the luxury SUV for ₹92 lakh from Satish Motors Private Limited, an authorized Jaguar Land Rover dealer. However, soon after the purchase, the COVID-19 pandemic struck, and due to the lockdown, she did not use the car extensively. Once she started using it, she began experiencing multiple technical issues, including problems with the sunroof, sound system, screen, and rear-end camera.
In her complaint, Rimi Sen claimed that on August 25, 2022, the rear-end camera malfunctioned, causing the car to crash into a pole. She notified the dealer about the incident and was asked to provide evidence. Since then, she alleges that several other technical flaws have emerged, necessitating multiple repairs.
Sen's legal notice accuses the car manufacturer and the authorized dealer of both manufacturing defects and inadequate service and maintenance. She stated that the SUV has been sent for repairs more than ten times, yet the problems persist, causing her significant mental anguish and inconvenience.
The actress is seeking ₹50 crore in damages for mental harassment, along with an additional ₹10 lakh to cover legal expenses. She is also demanding a refund for the defective car. As of now, Land Rover has not issued an official response to the allegations.
This legal battle highlights the challenges consumers can face when dealing with high-end vehicles and the expectations of reliability and service associated with luxury brands.
