Vidya Balan Shares Why She Has No Close Friends in Bollywood: “I’m Not Pressured by Anyone!”

Actress Vidya Balan is making headlines with her recent comeback as the iconic character Manjulika in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. In an interview with Entertainment Live, Vidya Balan opened up about her lack of close friendships in the film industry. Vidya was candid, saying, “I love what I do and try to stay honest with my work. I don’t let friendships interfere in that space, so I don’t have close friends in this industry.” She emphasized that while she respects her colleagues, she prefers to keep her professional life and friendships separate.

Vidya explained her approach to her career, saying, “I’m not saying this industry is bad, but I didn’t build close friendships at work. I feel this keeps me from feeling pressured to accept roles just because someone offered them to me. I choose scripts that resonate with me, not because of any personal obligation.” This mindset allows her to make career choices based solely on the script and role, rather than out of a sense of friendship.

Her Approach to Industry Relationships

Vidya also noted that she doesn’t expect special treatment from colleagues just because they may be friendly with her. “It goes both ways. I don’t expect anyone to cast me just because we’re friends, so it keeps things fair,” she added. This approach, according to Vidya, has helped her maintain professionalism and avoid unnecessary expectations in her career.

When asked about working alongside her husband, Vidya revealed that they’ve made a conscious decision not to work together. She humorously added, “We’ve decided not to work together, but we’ll live together!” This choice reflects her commitment to keeping a balance between her personal and professional lives.
