Vijayta Pandit Finally Speaks on Sister Sandhya's Tragic Murder: 'We Found Her Skeleton, Sulakshana in Denial'

In a recent interview, Vijayta Pandit, actress and sister of music composer duo Jatin-Lalit, discussed the heartbreaking story of her sister, Sandhya Pandit. Sandhya, who went missing in 2012, was found dead, and her partial skeleton was discovered nearly a month later. This shocking event left the Pandit family in turmoil, and now, years later, Vijayta has opened up about the tragedy and why they still haven't informed their elder sister, Sulakshana, about Sandhya's death.

The Tragic Disappearance of Sandhya Pandit

Sandhya Pandit, the sister of well-known Bollywood personalities Jatin, Lalit, Sulakshana, and Vijayta Pandit, went missing in 2012. Her family, including her brothers and Vijayta, searched for her for weeks after she was reported missing. Sadly, her remains were found a month later, with her bones scattered across different locations. The case shocked the family and the public, as Sandhya had appeared to be happy in her marriage.

Vijayta Pandit Shares Family’s Heartbreak

In her interview with Lehren Retro, Vijayta Pandit revealed the emotional strain her sister’s death had on the family. She shared, "We never thought something like this could happen so suddenly. She was happy in her marriage, and we never found her—just her skeleton after a long search. It was a devastating discovery."

What makes the tragedy even more complex is that the family has chosen not to inform their eldest sister, Sulakshana Pandit, about Sandhya’s death. Vijayta explained that even after all these years, they have kept up the act, telling Sulakshana that Sandhya is still alive and living in Indore. Vijayta said, “Sulakshana ji still believes that our sister is alive. If she finds out the truth, I’m afraid she wouldn’t be able to handle it."

Why Sulakshana Pandit Still Doesn’t Know

Vijayta shared how they’ve maintained this lie to protect Sulakshana from the unbearable pain of losing a sibling. According to Vijayta, she tells Sulakshana that Sandhya calls her regularly and that she doesn’t use a mobile phone. Sulakshana even asks Vijayta to send her love to their sister, believing she is still alive.

Vijayta admitted, "This is the first time I am saying this. I never told her the truth because if she finds out, she will die that very moment."

The Legal Case Around Sandhya’s Death

Sandhya’s son, Raghuveer Singh, was initially accused of being involved in her murder. The case was built on the grounds of suspicion by the Mumbai Police Crime Branch, which alleged that Raghuveer, who had issues with his mother, might have been responsible for her death.

However, in 2021, the Thane sessions court acquitted Raghuveer of all charges, including murder, robbery, and destruction of evidence. The court stated that the prosecution could not establish sufficient proof of his involvement, other than the fact that he was struggling with alcohol addiction and had a strained relationship with Sandhya.
