400 Passengers Stranded for 12 Hours in Istanbul: Frustrated Travelers Lash Out at IndiGo
There was complete chaos at Istanbul Airport where 400 passengers were left in a lurch after IndiGo flights to Delhi and Mumbai were sent back without explanation for a whole 12 hours. They had been scheduled for Wednesday night but were rescheduled for the next afternoon without sufficient reason or help. The poor communication was criticized on social media with no food and shelter facilities also present at their places.
Social Media Passenger Upset
Passengers stranded at the airport vented their anger on social media. A traveler shared that the Delhi-bound flight, originally scheduled for 8:10 PM, was postponed to 1:30 PM the next day without explanation. Another passenger criticized IndiGo for providing no response or assistance during the delay, questioning the airline's professionalism.
In a statement issued late last night on the face of mounting criticism, IndiGo cited technical glitches for the delay and also asserted that efforts had been made to provide refreshment and accommodation to its stranded passengers, which was an "exaggerated claim," say some. However, IndiGo also issued a clarification today, saying the problem is behind the airline, operations were restored.
