Anand Awasthi Re-elected Pensioner Forum General Secretary for 8th Term at 88
New Delhi: Veteran pensioners’ leader Anand Awasthi has been elected General Secretary of the Pensioner Forum for the eighth consecutive term at the age of 88. Following his re-election, Awasthi reaffirmed his commitment to continue efforts aimed at resolving long-pending issues faced by pensioners across the country.
Addressing members after the election, Awasthi said that the struggle for pensioners’ rights would continue until tangible results are achieved. He expressed concern over the growing frustration among pensioners, stating that nearly two crore pensioners are living in uncertainty as the government has yet to provide a clear assurance regarding a dedicated pensioners’ fund.
Awasthi said he would once again urge the government to announce concrete measures for pensioners in the upcoming Union Budget. He warned that if the long-standing demands continue to be ignored, pensioners may be left with no option other than launching an agitation.
Calling for unity, Awasthi appealed to pensioners across the country to remain prepared for collective action if required. “Our movement has always been peaceful and issue-based, but continued neglect leaves us with limited choices,” he said.
