The Incident
The violent assault took place when the woman's husband locked her in a room and attacked her with a knife and screwdriver. The victim’s screams alerted neighbors, who rushed to her aid. According to Ravi, she wouldn’t let him go anywhere, while she would often leave without informing him. Ravi said he was fed up with her behavior, which led to the attack.
Family and Dowry Issues
Preeti’s family revealed that she had been facing harassment for dowry since her marriage last year. After becoming pregnant, Preeti had moved to her aunt’s home in Nagarpura village to escape the abuse. However, on Tuesday, her husband forcibly took her back to their home, where the brutal attack took place.
Preeti's sister, Rekha Devi, disclosed that her in-laws, including Ravi’s parents, were present during the attack but did nothing to help. Instead, they fled the scene after the assault.
