"No Gun Training, No Strength... Then Why Was Akshay Shinde Shot in the Head?" Bombay High Court Questions Badlapur Encounter
Badlapur Encounter: The Bombay High Court has raised serious questions regarding the encounter of Akshay Shinde, the accused in the Badlapur school sexual assault case. Following Shinde's encounter, his father filed a petition in the High Court, seeking justice and raising concerns about the circumstances surrounding the incident.
During the hearing, the court expressed skepticism about the encounter, suggesting that there appeared to be discrepancies in the official account. It was highlighted that the officer involved was not in uniform at the time of the encounter, which raised questions about protocol and safety. Furthermore, reports indicated that Shinde's pistol was found on the left side and was not locked while he was seated in the vehicle. This raised doubts when it was claimed that Shinde managed to draw the weapon during a scuffle.
The court stated, "It is hard to believe that a common individual can fire a gun without proper strength." They pointed out that a weak person would struggle to operate a revolver effectively. The court also inquired about the experience level of the officer who fired the weapon, to which the Maharashtra government admitted they had no information.
Additionally, Amit Kattranavare, the lawyer representing Shinde, urged the court to ensure that all CCTV footage from nearby stores during the time of the encounter be preserved. He indicated that Shinde had met with his family in jail shortly before the incident, raising further questions about the timeline and circumstances leading up to the encounter.
