CBSE 2025 Exam Schedule: Practical Exams of Classes 10 & 12 are from Jan 1, Theory Exams will begin from Feb 15 – All Details Inside!

The Central Board of Secondary Education officially issued the date sheet stating practical exams in classes 10 and 12 to start from January 1, 2025, whereas theory papers would begin from February 15, 2025. However for winter-bound region schools, practical exams will be taken earlier during November 5 to December 5, 2024 since they will be closed in January 2025.

The Central Board of Secondary Education also has given important guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) through which practical exams, project work, and internal assessments can be conducted smoothly. There is also the bifurcation of marks subject-wise comprising of theory and practicals, projects, and internal assessment with proper bifurcation of marks for schools to directly refer whenever students' practical exam scores are to be uploaded as marks uploaded cannot be changed after it is done.

Further helping the schools prepare the students for practical as well as theory exams, CBSE has released a detailed list categorizing subjects under Classes 10 and 12. This list includes information such as the subject code, name, maximum marks considered in theory and practical exams, project assessment, and internal assessment. In case of theory exams too, the list has also mentioned which answer book needs to be used while assessing the student.

The official notification clearly states that all the practicals for both Class 10 and Class 12 will begin from 1 January, 2025, while theory will commence from 15 February, 2025. It is, therefore, particularly important that schools are adequately prepared and scrupulously adhere to the guidelines provided in order to make the process of these examinations smooth. This is a critical point in time for the academic calendar for all students of Classes 10 and 12 as they are appearing in their practical and theory examinations, which will constitute an important part of their final results.
