CM Nitish Kumar Narrowly Escapes as Welcome Gate Collapses, Security Rushes In!
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar narrowly escaped an accident on Monday, September 9, during his visit to Barh and Mokama. The incident occurred in Belchi Block of Barh, where CM Nitish Kumar was inaugurating and laying the foundation stones for several projects. After completing the ceremony, as his convoy was about to leave the block office, a welcome gate erected for the event suddenly collapsed.
At the time of the accident, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's vehicle was behind the convoy, while the other officials' cars were ahead. The gate fell close to one of the cars in the convoy, but the driver managed to stop the vehicle just in time. Security personnel and local attendees rushed to lift the fallen gate, ensuring that the convoy could safely proceed.
Despite the brief disruption, the Chief Minister continued his visit to various locations in the region, including inspecting projects such as the Bakhtiyarpur-Mokama four-lane road, a railway overbridge, and the newly constructed Belchi Block and Circle office.
Meeting with Anant Singh
Following his inspection in Belchi, Nitish Kumar visited Ladhma, the village of former Mokama MLA Anant Singh, and met with the ex-legislator. The meeting took place during his return journey.
The Chief Minister then proceeded to Mokama, where he inspected key infrastructure projects, including the six-lane Ganga bridge at Aunta-Simarhiya, the Ganga Udwah Project, and the double-track mega rail bridge. He also inaugurated the newly constructed Maranchi Primary Health Center building, accompanied by Union Minister Lalan Singh and former minister Neeraj Kumar.
After completing his visit, Nitish Kumar left for Patna from Maranchi High School via helicopter.
Previous Security Lapses
This is not the first time an incident like this has occurred during one of CM Nitish Kumar's public events. In previous instances, there have been security lapses. For example, a few months ago, a biker managed to breach his security while the CM was on a morning walk. Other past incidents include someone throwing a garland too forcefully and a loud explosion during his visit to Nalanda.
While these incidents have raised concerns, CM Nitish Kumar has continued his public engagements, relying on his security detail to manage potential risks effectively.
