CM Siddaramaiah Faces Controversy Amid Pitru Paksha Offerings and MUDA Scam

BJP leaders have criticized the CM for performing rituals during this inauspicious time, claiming it has led to his current troubles, particularly concerning the MUDA scam.

VIJAYNAGAR — Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is embroiled in controversy following his recent offerings at the Tungabhadra reservoir during the Pitru Paksha period. BJP leaders have criticized the CM for performing rituals during this inauspicious time, claiming it has led to his current troubles, particularly concerning the MUDA scam.

On September 25, the CM offered prayers to Ganga Mata at the Tungabhadra Dam and presented offerings, which some believe has invited misfortune, as traditional Hindu beliefs dictate that auspicious activities should not occur during Pitru Paksha. BJP's Vijayanagar district president, Channabasavanagouda Patil, has asserted that this act may have triggered "Pitru Paksha dosha," and has called for Siddaramaiah’s resignation.

Adding to his challenges, Siddaramaiah's legal efforts against the Governor's prosecution order related to the MUDA scam were dismissed by the High Court. This ruling has intensified questions about the CM's actions during Pitru Paksha and the implications of his offerings.

“By offering at the Tungabhadra during this period, the CM has placed himself in jeopardy,” Patil stated, emphasizing the belief that no auspicious deeds should take place during Pitru Paksha, a belief held by many traditionalists.

In a related development, CM Siddaramaiah has scheduled a cabinet meeting for Thursday at noon to discuss how to respond to the Governor's letter concerning the prosecution order. Tensions are rising within the party as senior leaders prepare to address the unfolding situation.
