Daring River Rescue: SDRF Saves Youth Stranded Mid-Stream in Uttarakhand's Agastyamuni
RUDRAPRAYAG, Uttarakhand: SDRF Uttarakhand Police rescued a young man, who got trapped in the middle of the stream while trying to cross over the river by trolley in Agastyamuni. The incident was reported to be potentially dangerous for the youth, when swift response from the State Disaster Response Force, the DDMA, local police and fire services joined hands with the SDRF.
He was trying to cross the river using a manual trolley system when he found himself stuck in the middle of the river. The risk factor was highly high as the currents of water were strong and so was the position. Hence, rescue teams had little time.
Equipped and trained for such emergencies, the SDRF team reached the location and coordinated the planning of a safe rescue operation with personnel from the DDMA, law-enforcement agents, and the local fire department. The rescuers secured the area after deliberating on the deployment of ropes and other equipment to stabilize the trolley and extract the youth safely. After careful maneuvering and teamwork, SDRF managed to bring the young man back ashore without sustaining any injuries.
The operation portrayed the readiness and speed of disaster response teams in Uttarakhand to deal with emergencies. SDRF appreciates all the cooperation from the agencies involved as well as local authorities which made the mission a success.
