Diwali is the biggest festival in India and is celebrated with great zeal and zest all over the nation. People buy a range of sweets, and special confections are prepared for the shops. This year, in Amravati, a sweet shop has innovated something unique: a dessert called Soneri Bhog, which is designed with a 24-karat gold leaf.

Soneri Bhog: Made from top-grade dry fruits like almonds, cashews, raisins, and pistachios and covered with 24-karat edible gold, Soneri Bhog is definitely a showstopper. Every year, the store, Raghuveer Mithai, promises this specialty sweet, and this year's price of ₹14,000 a kilo, up from ₹11,000 for last year, reflects gold's rising price. Although it costs that much money, the sweet is on demand not just in Amravati but all of Maharashtra.
