In a bizarre incident from Jamui district's Sikandra police station area, a young man posing as an IPS trainee officer was arrested by local police. The man, identified as Mithlesh Kumar, hails from Govardhanbigha village in Halsi, Lakhisarai district. He was caught while roaming the market in a police uniform, complete with an IPS badge, on a motorcycle.
The arrest occurred after the police, suspicious of his behavior, stopped him for questioning. Mithlesh claimed to be an IPS officer but was soon taken into custody when his story didn't add up. Upon investigation, it was revealed that Mithlesh had been scammed into believing he had secured a police job. He confessed to having paid Rs 2 lakh out of a promised Rs 2.3 lakh to a man named Manoj Singh from Khaira.
The Fraudulent Promise
Mithlesh explained that he met Manoj Singh at a waterfall in Pachbhur some days ago. Singh promised Mithlesh a job in the police force, demanding Rs 2.3 lakh for securing the position. Desperate for the job, Mithlesh borrowed money from his uncle to pay Singh Rs 2 lakh. After receiving the payment, Singh dressed Mithlesh in a police uniform, handed him a toy pistol, and instructed him to wait for a call about his duty assignment.
Following these instructions, Mithlesh proudly donned his uniform and headed to Sikandra Chowk on his bike. However, his suspicious appearance caught the attention of the police, leading to his arrest.
Family Reacts
Mithlesh's mother, Pinky Devi, expressed shock at the arrest. She said, “My son returned home in a police uniform and told us that he had secured a job in the police force. We were overjoyed and believed him. We are poor, and his uncle lent him the money for the job. I had no idea this was a scam.”
Police Investigation
Jamui SDPO Satish Suman confirmed the arrest and stated, "A young man named Mithlesh Manjhi has been arrested in Sikandra for impersonating an IPS officer. The police are investigating the case, and further details will be shared soon."
