Ghaziabad Indirapuram Police Arrest Three for Running Credit Card Fraud Operation from Mini Traveler Van
In a major breakthrough, the Kotwali police have arrested three individuals involved in a telecalling scam, where they duped credit card holders in Delhi-NCR under the pretext of redeeming credit card reward points. The suspects, who operated from a Mini Traveler van, targeted unsuspecting victims and persuaded them to invest their money fraudulently.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Swatantra Kumar Singh from Indirapuram stated that the three arrested individuals have been identified as Sushant Kumar, a resident of Nand Vihar, Dwarka Sector 16, Delhi, originally from Trivandrum, Kerala; Sunny Kashyap, a resident of Vikas Kunj, Farrukhnagar; and Aman Goswami, a resident of Raj Nagar Colony, Loni Border.
The police recovered several items during the operation, including the Mini Traveler van used by the suspects, 20 mobile phones, 16 SIM cards, 31 pages containing names and contact details of credit card holders, 30 batteries, four checkbooks, and three rental agreement copies.
During the interrogation, Sushant Kumar revealed that their gang consisted of seven members, including a woman who provided them with data on credit card holders. The gang would move around different locations, including Indirapuram, and make calls from the Mini Traveler van. They lured victims by offering them lucrative rewards through credit card redeem points, tricking them into making investments, which were later siphoned off by the gang.
The ACP explained that the gang would collect all necessary information from the victims and direct them to fake websites for redeeming points. Once the points were redeemed, they would use them for shopping, and any leftover money would be transferred to their accounts. A member of the gang was responsible for providing mobile phones and SIM cards to carry out the scam.
The police are now investigating the involvement of other gang members and tracing the transactions made using the recovered checkbooks to track the stolen funds. The police expect to make further arrests as the investigation progresses.
