Gurugram, Noida residents rejoice: The new Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) to connect Gurugram with Greater Noida

The Gurugram to Greater Noida RRTS corridor will be about 60 kilometers long, starting from Rajiv Chowk in Gurugram towards Noida Sector-142 and Surajpur in Greater Noida. On the way, this corridor will travel through major hubs such as Bata Chowk in Faridabad, thereby further connecting the region.

The Modi government has announced its plans to create a Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) that will connect Gurugram with Greater Noida-the exciting development for commuters in the Delhi-NCR region, which is expected to drastically reduce travel time and ease the daily commute of lakhs of people who have to bear with long traffic jams.

The government has promised Rs 15,000 crore for this project that will completely transform the entire transportation systems of Delhi-NCR.

Once developed, the RRTS corridor will include eight stations strategically located along the route. Not only will daily travel become faster, but there will also be a significant impact on reducing traffic congestion and curbing air pollution in the region. For Noida, Gurugram, and the surrounding areas, this new rapid transit will not only provide a faster but a far more efficient alternative to road travel.

Recent deliberations between Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal Khattar, have fast-tracked this project. On the agenda for the meeting were also deliberations on expanding the Gurugram metro, extending its reach from Sarai Kale Khan to Karnal and AIIMS in Badsa.

The RRTS network will also connect IGI Airport to the crucial NCR hubs such as Gurugram, Faridabad, and Jewar Airport, thus further improving accessibility to big airports and further boosting economic activity. It plans to extend it further in the directions of Dharuhera-Bawal-Shahjahanpur in Rajasthan, which will further make it an even more ambitious transportation network.

The new RRTS corridor from Gurugram to Greater Noida is a great step in improving urban mobility along with reducing the traffic woes and promoting sustainable transport across the Delhi-NCR region.
