Gyanvapi Case: SC Issued Notice to Muslim Side on Request for ASI Survey of Hindu Petitioners

In the Gyanvapi dispute, the Supreme Court has sought a response from the Muslim community on the Hindu side's plea for an Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) examination of the Shivling. The next hearing, scheduled for December 17, will also address other related petitions. A separate request to transfer 15 pending cases to the High Court was not listed due to technical reasons.

Gyanvapi Case: The Supreme Court has served a notice on the Muslim side in the Gyanvapi case on a plea by Hindu worshippers seeking to get an Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) study done on the alleged Shivling found on the premises. The Muslim side has been allowed two weeks' time to respond to the notice, and it also appointed December 17 for a hearing on all related petitions.

As many as eight petitions have been filed on both sides-Hindu and Muslim-related to the case, out of which the Supreme Court will consider submissions on December 17. The technical issue, however, would not allow the court to hear another plea filed by the Hindu side for moving 15 pending cases lying in the courts of law pending here to this High Court for their consolidated hearing.

It remains a contentious point of legal and religious debate, and the ASI survey has been pinpointed as the focal point of the Hindu petitioners' claims. The Muslim side's response will be critical to determine what the next step will be in this ongoing legal battle.
