Haryana Assembly Elections 2024: AAP Goes Solo, Announces 20 Candidates Amid Congress Rift
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has officially released its first list of 20 candidates for the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections, confirming the absence of an electoral alliance with the Congress. Despite earlier speculation of a potential alliance under the INDIA coalition, AAP and Congress failed to reach an agreement, leading AAP to field its own candidates across key constituencies.
Among the notable candidates announced, Anurag Dhanda will represent AAP from the Kalayat constituency, while Narendra Sharma will contest from Pundri. Indu Sharma has been given the ticket for Bhiwani, and Vikas Nehra will be the party's candidate in Meham.
This development comes after both AAP and Congress campaigned together under the INDIA alliance for national elections. However, their efforts to form a united front for the Haryana Assembly elections fell through.
AAP's decision to contest independently is particularly significant as it also fields candidates in 11 constituencies where Congress had already declared its nominees. These constituencies include Uchana Kalan, Meham, Badshahpur, Narayangarh, Samalkha, Dabwali, Rohtak, Bahadurgarh, Badli, Beri, and Mahendragarh.
The release of AAP's candidate list marks a pivotal moment in the Haryana elections, highlighting the growing competition between the parties despite their previous coalition efforts on a national level.
Both AAP and Congress will now focus on their independent campaigns as the battle for Haryana’s Assembly intensifies.
