Safdarjung Hospital Viral Video: Why IPS Officer Brijendra Kumar Yadav Got Angry and Threatened Hospital Staff
Safdarjung Hospital Viral Video: A shocking incident at Safdarjung Hospital here has sparked outrage after IPS officer Brijendra Kumar Yadav allegedly threatened a resident doctor over the treatment of his wife. Yadav, DIG Armed Police and Training in Puducherry, lost his cool after the postoperative care being provided to his wife Anita Roy, who underwent surgery at Sports Injury Centre in Safdarjung hospital.
The brawl erupted when Yadav, frustrated with the treatment handed out to his wife, went to Dr. Lakshya, a resident surgeon in the same department. Witnesses reported that Yadav, accompanied by several men in police uniform, verbally abused Dr. Lakshya, making threatening gestures and shouting at him. The CCTV footage is spreading quickly around the net; it shows the officer angrily pointing at the doctor. An audio clip also reveals Yadav telling the doctor, "I have studied twice as much as you have, so don't think you are indispensable."
The scuffle proved to be a brief disruption to the smooth running of the hospital. The doctor protesting at Yadav's conduct even stopped duties in the casualty. The situation normalized only after the hospital requested Yadav and his wife to leave. Dr. Rajat Gangwar, a senior resident at SIC, said that despite making several efforts to resolve the situation, they were compelled to suspend their duties till the issue was redressed.
This move has opened the attacks for the medical community, and condemnation for the officer's actions clearly indicates the growing tension between healthcare workers and those in authority.
