Jammu Kashmir Election 2024: Mehbooba Mufti Accuses Er Rashid's AIP of Being a Central Government Proxy
Anantnag: In a scathing critique, PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti has accused the Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) of acting as a proxy for the central government. During a press conference, Mufti claimed that the BJP is intimidated by the PDP, fearing that if the PDP returns to power, it will defy the central government's directives.
Mufti questioned the financial backing of AIP, highlighting the discrepancy between the party's extensive election activities and its leader's imprisonment. She demanded answers on the source of their funding and support.
"Yesterday, our candidate was severely attacked by AIP workers in Balpora, Shopian, and is now in critical condition at SMHS Hospital, Srinagar, with fractured ribs," Mufti reported. She criticized the government’s lack of action and pointed out the inconsistency in handling violence against PDP members versus their opponents.
Mufti also addressed the issue of resource disparity, noting that while it took decades to build the PDP, AIP’s sudden rise and resource influx are questionable. She accused the central government of using AIP to undermine the PDP after previous attempts failed.
Urging the public to be cautious, Mufti warned against falling for proxy parties, asserting that they aim to divide Kashmiri votes and weaken the PDP’s efforts. She contrasted her efforts to address violence with the actions of NC during Omar Abdullah's tenure, accusing them of supporting repressive policies.
Mufti reaffirmed the PDP’s dedication to protecting Kashmiri interests and combating hidden agendas that seek to disrupt the region’s political landscape.
