Kerala Updates Nipah Route Map After Teen's Death

The 14-year-old from Pandikkad died after being diagnosed with Nipah, prompting health authorities to initially release a route map covering the period from July 11 to 15.
 
MALAPPURAM, Kerala (AP) — Kerala's health department has issued an updated route map tracing the movements of a child who succumbed to Nipah virus in Malappuram, urging individuals who visited specific locations during specified times to report to the health department's NIPA control room.
The 14-year-old from Pandikkad died after being diagnosed with Nipah, prompting health authorities to initially release a route map covering the period from July 11 to 15. A revised map now extends the period to July 19.
Currently, samples from 13 individuals deemed high-risk are under testing — 9 in Kozhikode and 4 in Thiruvananthapuram. A total of 350 individuals are on the contact list, including 101 classified as high-risk and 68 health workers. So far, the child's parents have not shown any symptoms.
