Man Accused of Hiding Identity, Assaulting Woman, and Forcing Conversion in Ghaziabad
GHAZIABAD, Uttar Pradesh — In a disturbing case from Ankur Vihar, a man has been accused of concealing his religious identity and name to befriend a woman, subsequently assaulting her and forcing her into a marriage after converting her religion. The 32-year-old victim has filed a case against the two accused individuals, and police are currently investigating the matter.
The incident began in 2019 when Nadeem, a property dealer, allegedly introduced himself as Amit Sharma to the woman, who ran a tailoring factory in Ankur Vihar. Under the pretense of selling plots to her workers, Nadeem frequently visited her factory, gradually building a relationship with her.
One day, Nadeem allegedly spiked the woman's drink with a sedative at her flat, leading to her unconsciousness. He then reportedly sexually assaulted her and recorded explicit videos. According to the victim, Nadeem used these videos to blackmail her, continuing the abuse under threats of making the videos public.
As the relationship progressed, Nadeem revealed his true identity during an incident at a hotel, further intimidating the woman with the help of his brother, Hasrat. During this time, the woman became pregnant, and Nadeem allegedly forced her to undergo an abortion at a private hospital in Loni.
The situation escalated when Nadeem allegedly coerced the woman into converting her religion and marrying his friend, Ateeq. After the forced marriage, the woman became pregnant again, but Ateeq allegedly abandoned her, leading her to file a complaint against the men involved.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Bhaskar Verma confirmed that Nadeem is already incarcerated in connection with another case. The police are investigating the allegations, and appropriate action will be taken following the inquiry.
This case has drawn significant attention to issues of identity fraud, sexual exploitation, and forced religious conversion, with local authorities under pressure to ensure justice for the victim.
